Your Community
Heyyy👋🏾,
Your Community: A Call to Connection 🌟
"His door closes, your door closes, her door closes." Three of you boarded the elevator together, walked the corridor together, and have lived in the same complex for more than 3 years, yet you don't know each other's names. The world has become so self-centered in recent times, building walls behind fears, trauma, and boundaries to keep people out.
For a fact, we know man cannot exist without a colony (biology linguistics). Man needs companionship, as the majority of his habits are formed based on interaction with his community. A question then arises... where is your community?
My friend and I recently had a discussion on this, which prompted this topic. Where has the community of believers gone to?
I recently attended a prayer conference. I was there in the early hours of the morning to get a good seat, and before noon, I had befriended two of my nearest seat partners. I can tell you that worship was sweet because I wasn't dancing alone, I wasn't praying alone, and the voices of over a thousand people were very comforting, as it afforded me to scream my own heart out in prayer.
The whole concept of marriage is companionship and love. We are told not to forsake the gathering of brethren, but lately, we prefer online to physical because of 'church hurt'. I've tried online before, and my mind wasn't even there at all. There's something sweet and relaxing about being in the presence of people with like minds.
And this doesn't just border on the Christian community; your community should expand into the world. Just within January, over 80k deaths by suicide were recorded all over the world, which is pretty surprising for a world that preaches mental health and soul healing. Does it mean, despite the awareness, we're still getting worse? Yes, because we approach healing wrongly.
Healing isn't isolation; it's confronting your trauma with Christ. It's that friend that checks up on you. It's the random greetings and compliments. It's the family you surround yourself with that makes you better because it allows you to see and hear the different facets of God through the eyes and ears of other people.
Home is where you belong, and the home is the Church, and the Church is the body of Christ.
Make a call this week to that friend, partner, or colleague. Check up on people before they tick off their 13th reason why.
I pray the peace and love of Christ would flow in you, through you, and around you. Have a blessed week.
Your accountability partner in Christ, Gloria 🤍
Shalom✨️
