What to do with anger ?

Nothing.

James 1:2-4 NIV
[2] Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, [3] because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. [4] Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Let's highlight the word perseverance here. Now James said that when you face trials of many kind you should consider it pure joy. That statement includes all kinds of trials.

Would you agree with me then, that when someone goes out of their way to cause you problems you should also consider it pure joy?
That in that situation where it seems logical to respond with anger, we should instead consider it pure joy because it gives us a chance for the testing of our faith.

They say when people encounter conflict their true image comes out. Whether you're a coward, a fighter, a child of God that refuses to be bullied or a child of God that reacts with patience.

There will be tests and trials and one way to mark growth is through these tests.

"How can I say I love Jesus when I still react with anger in frustrating situations, rather than responding with the patience and love He teaches?"

Does it mean that we won't get angry? Does it mean our only emotion is joy?
No!
The key word is "react". The Bible says be angry but do not sin. You're human, it's not easy to be smiling when situations don't favour you but are we going to react with that anger knowing we might say things we will regret or do things that will haunt us later?
The fruits of the spirit is long suffering otherwise known as patience.
From the verse earlier we are encouraged to count it all joy even when the situation is upsetting because this testing produces perseverance.
Verse [4] says, "Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Finally James 1:5-6 NIV
[5] If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. [6] But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

Ask and it will be given to you, if you think you don't have patience, ask for it.
Get ready for the Lord to work you through it and pray for the grace to learn.
Have a blessed week 🤍
