Must You Talk?
Hey👋🏾,
So I was like, hmm let me go and write our blog post of the week and center on God's love when I saw someone typing and His pen name on WhatsApp was MUST YOU TALK?
Now let's ask ourselves this question.. I'm going to put a few scriptures somewhere to get the point across as this is a Christian Bloggggg🎀.
Sometimes we get into situations where we are unhappy with the way things are going and you know that when you open that mouth in that anger, you will say things that do not please God.
"God forgive me, but if I start with you, you will hate me.....", a very common speech that you will hear even in Church.
The Bible says be angry but do not sin.
Ephesians 4:26 KJV
[26] Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
And it's near impossible to face the object of our anger and instead of letting God our defender to arise in that case, we open our mouths and let whoever is concerned know that, " ...although I'm a Christian it doesn't mean you can walk all over me."
And then tweet that, "hmm that felt good"
Earlier I was thinking on the fact that Jesus was right ( He is the Son of God, He is the Messiah and He is the King of Israel infact of all Kings) during the trial leading to His crucifixion but He didn't bother defending Himself in fact He kept quiet for majority of the questioning.
So if Jesus, who we as Christians are encouraged to emulate, was in a trial that meant life or death to Him was able to keep quiet, why don't we want to emulate that character.
It might not even be in defense but we should learn to practice self control in our speech.
We, as Christians shouldn't engage in gossip.
We are encouraged also to watch our speech and speak life.
Ephesians 4:29 NIV
[29] Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Your mouth is a very powerful gateway, what are you doing with that power?
You don't have to talk in certain places at certain times. Even in evangelism that was studied in today's Sunday school, we discussed that even to preach you need the Holy Spirit to guide you and give you words.
This week, practice asking God for guidance in situations you are tempted to speak out of anger, in situations where your comment is wanted in office or school gossip, in situations where you want to speak truth and lead people to Christ.
Shalom and Happy New Month 🤍.
