What to do with anger
HeyππΎ,
Anger is something we all deal with and sometimes some of us have noted it as a great flaw, like me.
It's so easy to get angry, to get upset and so hard to hold it in.
But as Christians what do we do with anger?
Now let's look at what the scripture says about it:
With the help of Al let's look at the provided scriptures and key notes.
The Bible has a lot to say about anger. Here are some key points:
- Acknowledge and control anger: "Refrain from anger and give up your rage; do not be agitated or provoked to do evil" (Psalm 37:8).
- Don't let anger linger: "In your anger, do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger" (Ephesians 4:26).
-Anger can be righteous or unrighteous: Compare Jesus' anger at injustice (Mark 3:5) with the destructive anger of Cain (Genesis 4:5-6).
Seek God's help to manage anger: "The anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God" (James 1:20). Instead, seek God's guidance and peace.
The Bible encourages us to manage anger constructively, avoiding harm to ourselves and others.
To manage how we react when angry let's look at, James 1:19-20: "Know this, my beloved brothers: everyone should be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God."
Even when the anger comes so quickly, hold your tongue as tight as you can. Don't speak and let it passover even when it's so hard to do that.
Let's use this week to practice silence when we are tempted to speak out of anger.
Finally, ."...in your anger do not sin."
Shalom π€.
