You need the Holy Spirit (1)

Hey👋🏾, Happy Sunday 🤍  Looking at 1st Corinthians 13, the Bible teaches that the greatest preacher or teacher is nothing if he doesn't have love. This Sunday during service, we were given an assessment on love. We were to go through 1st Corinthians 13 and grade ourselves from 1 to 5 on each characteristics of love written in those verses and for me this was a practical way to test how far I've grown on Christ. But one thing to note is that if you don't have the holy spirit, you cannot have the love of Christ .  In 1st Thessalonians 5: 19, we are taught to quench not the spirit.  This love you want to potray cannot work without the Holy spirit. Love is a fruit of the Spirit.  How can you bear fruits if you don't abide in Christ?  How can you bear fruits if you don't have the Holy Spirit? A lot of us don't engage the spirit in our decisions and even when we do, might not even obey what was instructed. This morning I had a feeling to change what I was wearing ...

What to do with anger

Hey👋🏾, Anger is something we all deal with and sometimes some of us have noted it as a great flaw, like me. It's so easy to get angry, to get upset and so hard to hold it in.  But as Christians what do we do with anger? Now let's look at what the scripture says about it: With the help of Al let's look at the provided scriptures and key notes. The Bible has a lot to say about anger. Here are some key points: - Acknowledge and control anger: "Refrain from anger and give up your rage; do not be agitated or provoked to do evil" (Psalm 37:8). - Don't let anger linger : "In your anger, do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger" (Ephesians 4:26). - Anger can be righteous or unrighteous: Compare Jesus' anger at injustice (Mark 3:5) with the destructive anger of Cain (Genesis 4:5-6). Seek God's help to manage anger : "The anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God" (James 1:20). Instead, seek God's guidance and ...

Was it a Yes or No?

Hey👋🏾, I This Sunday we studied disappointment and doubt in Sunday school - so this is me advertising it- please wait for Sunday school, it's as important as the service because it's where you can voice your questions, speak your mind and get your questions answered. Now in the school of life, we've come to understand that it's either a yes or no and not many maybes. My younger brother said something that struck me, he's like sometimes in the beginning phase of our walk with God and during troubling times there are a lot of questions but not many answers. We pray, we ask questions and we hope. But sometimes we don't get what we prayed for and this was on a personal note for me because I recently faced a disappointment and although I had listened to podcasts on facing disappointment, my response to the issue wasn't really exemplary of someone who trusts God. I want to believe that there's no prayer that goes unanswered, the answer to your prayer might j...

Receive Grace

Hey👋🏾🤍, O come to the altar, The arms of God are open wide.  Forgiveness was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. (Referenced from: O come to the altar by Elevation Worship) We don't earn forgiveness. It's paid for already so we receive it. We don't earn grace, it literally means unmerited favour.. We receive Grace. Like the rich man and those who struggle to let go of earthly treasures even when we really want to, there's Grace. Jesus replies to the question of,"who then can be saved", with what is impossible for man is possible with God. Where is your God? Why does it seem like you're not with him? Are you putting Him away until you feel you're good enough. Jesus replies the man who called Him,"Good Teacher" that no one except God is Good. Why can't you relax in the presence of God? It might seem tough but you're God's project, and you're a work in progress. It's all grace 🤍. He deemed us worthy. Even whil...
